Operational command experience under Isle of Man, Cayman Islands, Channel Islands, and Cook Islands flag states means we understand these registries from the vessel side — not just from a compliance textbook. The Red Ensign Group covers the UK's Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies that operate their own shipping registries under the British flag. These are among the most commonly encountered flag states on commercially operated superyachts worldwide — and the registries under which the majority of our own command experience was accumulated.

The Isle of Man Ship Registry (IOMSR) is one of the largest of the Red Ensign Group registries and particularly prevalent in the commercial superyacht sector. Extensive command experience under the IoM flag, including familiarity with their surveyors, approved organisations, and inspection processes.

The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry (CISR) operates under the Red Ensign and is a major registry for large commercial yachts. Command experience under the Cayman flag, including working with Cayman Islands-appointed Recognised Organisations for statutory audits.

Channel Islands flag state experience (both Guernsey and Jersey registries) across commercially operated vessels. Familiar with the survey and inspection processes of both administrations and the ROs they delegate to.

Vanuatu is a significant open registry with a large Pacific-region fleet. Internal audit, DPA/CSO, and gap-analysis services are available for Vanuatu-flagged vessels operating in the South Pacific and Australasian corridor.

For vessels flagged under Tuvalu, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Fiji, or Tonga — smaller administrations that typically rely on networks of external auditors rather than in-house capacity — please enquire directly. Statutory ISM/ISPS/MLC certification audits — the ones that produce a Document of Compliance, Safety Management Certificate, ISSC, or MLC certificate — are conducted either by the flag state administration directly or by a Recognised Organisation (RO) that the flag state has delegated authority to. Independent consultants cannot issue these certificates alone, regardless of their qualifications. What independent consultants can and should do is ensure your vessel is genuinely ready before that statutory audit takes place — through rigorous internal audits, gap analysis, and pre-inspection preparation. We do not conduct statutory audits on behalf of any flag state or RO — our role is independent of those authorities.
